our Father, God who art in heaven
hallowed be Thy Name
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done
on heaven and earth the same
give us today our daily bread
forgive of us our debts
as we forgive the ones who’ve cast
and caught us in their nets
and lead us not down twisty roads
deliver us from evil
for Thine the kingdom, glory, power
from sin, You’re our reprieval
give us today the grace to live
to watch Your good example
for judging not our brother’s heart
our sins are more than ample
help us to love our neighbor
as we love our enemy
because we’ve failed a thousand times
we bow here at Your knee
and would You block the lies that come
they blizzard cross our ears
and steer us toward the simple truth
to guard us from our fears
relight again the dimness
that remains of our cold embers
restore to us a fire that burns
of You, our soul remembers
we love because You loved us first
of that we’re all, here, sure
we’ve walked the darkened path, sin-drunk
and known Your blissful cure
because You are the Light, the Truth
the One, the only Way
we come to You, remembering
at the break of every day
without You, we are nothing
without siblings, we’re too few
come once again to us, we pray
and make our remnant new
we’re twinkling, tiny bulbs alone
but with You, with each other
we shine like bonfires with the Light
the dark can never smother
and so today we lift our hearts
we sing a grateful hymn
to Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
we say, as one, amen
I really appreciated the way the second stanza interpreted that part of the Lord’s Prayer. It shed a different light in it. Thank you for that.
And the stanza’s about the remnant and our desires for it are especially timely to us right now.
Thank you
