be at rest oh my soul
for the Lord has been good
though not always a good that makes sense
be at rest oh my soul
and come sit as His feet
let His presence help you off the fence
though the goodness of God
doesn’t look like our own
still the Master is watching the sheep
and the times that we cry
when we don’t understand
we can trust He is never asleep
be at rest oh my soul
and forget not the times
when you felt His strong presence surround
list them off in your head
speak the truth though it’s rote
all the moments of joy all around
be at rest oh my soul
and recite the true words
beat the devil with all that is written
for the words in the book
are the sharpest we have
when our strength matches up with a kitten
be at rest oh my soul
climb down off of the fence
come back to the safe pasture you know
for the Shepherd is here
He is right by your side
He’ll be with you no matter the blow
be at rest oh my soul
oh my soul take a breath
in this moment just sit at His feet
and when you can’t speak
when you can’t even breathe
He will come at the sound of your bleat
So simple but it says so much. For me, it was meaningful. Terry
